Commentaires
There was 5 - 10cm of new snow over the storm snow we received last weekend that remained fairly soft through the week, is being rapidly transported at all elevations by moderate to strong southeast winds. Wind slabs were building through the day, on our way uphill slab depths were 5-10 cm and less than 2 hours later our skin track was reloaded with 40cm of wind-driven snow that was cracking ahead of our skis. The temperatures were -15 and with the strong winds, it felt very cold. There was a recent small avalanche (size 1.5) that had been cornice triggered. The cornices are gigantic in this area and with little to no visibility today we stayed well away from steep slopes where these overhead hazards are looming.
