Description: Avalanche Fatality - Blackcomb Mountain Ruby Bowl (Closed)

Mtn Range: Coast Ranges Province: BC
AVALANCHE INFORMATION
Number: 1 Size: Size class 2 Type: Slab avalanche
Trigger: Sa
Dimension: 85m wide; ran for 200m.
Failure Pl.: Old - FC/CR (2009-12-06)
Starting Zone: Location: 2000m.
Character: NE; 40 degrees.
Comment: One skier went for a solo last lap into area posted as "ski area boundary/HIGH AVALANCHE HAZARD/ minimal avalanche control" at 1430 hours on December 31, 2008. He was reported missing later that evening and was found today buried near the bottom of the path down approximately 1 meter.
